Finish carpentry is the final stage of woodworking in a construction or remodeling project. It focuses on the visible, decorative elements that refine a space and make it livable. These can be things such as:
Trim and Moulding
installation of baseboards, casing, crown moulding, wainscot, bead-board paneling, coffered ceilings, etc.
Doors
the installation of pre-hung interior/exterior doors along with their hardware.
possible fabrication and installation of custom doors/door jambs: hidden doors (murphy), curved doors, door slabs with a new custom built door jamb, etc.
the refinishing and re-hanging of existing doors.
Cabinetry
installing pre-fabricated or custom built kitchen, bathroom, and mudroom cabinets.
Built-ins
Crafting bookshelves, TV consoles, kitchen benches with storage, fireplace mantels, etc.
Railings + Stairs
installing stair handrails, ada compliant rails, stair treads, stair risers, and balusters.
Door + Drawer Hardware
The installation of cabinet door hardware and pulls, door knobs, and latches.
The job of a finish carpenter is not only as an installer, but a craftsman to make floors/walls/ceilings/etc look plumb and square and flat as they should be. (It is very rarely the case that they are in this day in age). Quality in other stages of construction is regularly overlooked and sacrificed for production.
Beyond looks, high-quality finish carpentry protects wall surfaces from damage and can significantly increase property value. At Dollard Construction Services we are finish carpentry experts, providing high precision, quality work.
