Dollard Construction Services

Finish Carpentry and built-ins in Arvada and northwest Denver

Denver's Finish Carpentry Experts

Dollard Construction Services is a one-person finish carpentry shop based in Arvada, Colorado. Andy Dollard does the estimate, the work, and the walkthrough — there's no crew rotating through your house and no project manager between you and the person holding the tools.

The work is interior finish carpentry: baseboard, casing, crown molding, custom trim, wainscoting, built-in shelving and entertainment walls, closet systems, stair parts, and door and window installation. Roughly half the schedule is direct homeowner work; the other half is subcontract finish work for Denver-area general contractors.

Serving Arvada, Wheat Ridge, Golden, Westminster, Broomfield, and Denver. 6 years in business, 4.9 stars across 21 Google reviews, Colorado Class C licensed and insured.

Services

Dollard Construction Services is a quality-focused finish carpentry and custom woodworking contractor serving the greater Denver area. We work with homeowners as well as partnering with general contractors to deliver exceptional results on residential renovations, custom homes, and commercial buildouts — on time, on budget, with clear communication throughout.

Baseboard, door casing, window trim, and crown molding — measured, cut and installed by me, Andy, from the first estimate to the final walkthrough.

Built-ins designed around your space, built in my Arvada shop and installed so they look like they came with the house.

Board-and-batten, picture-frame molding, shiplap and slat walls that give plain drywall rooms real character.

New interior or exterior doors and windows that swing smoothly, latch cleanly and have even gaps all the way around.

Interior/exterior handrails, new balusters, newels, and treads that make your staircase safer and change the look of the whole house.

Trim, doors, built-ins and casework installation for remodels, additions and new builds — bid from your plans, done by the person who bid it.

FAQs

How high should wainscoting be?

Traditional wainscoting usually runs about a third of the wall height, often 32" to 36" on an 8-foot wall. Board-and-batten often looks best taller, around 48" to 60", or full height. I'll mock up the height on your wall so you can see it before I start.

Should I get slab doors or pre-hung doors?

If your frames are square and in good shape, slab doors usually make sense. If frames are damaged or out of square, or you're changing door sizes, pre-hung is the better choice. I'll check your openings and recommend one.

Can you match the trim I already have?

Usually, yes. If a stock profile is close, I'll use it. If not, I can combine moldings to build up a match or have a custom profile made.

Should I choose paint-grade or stain-grade trim?

Paint-grade (MDF or pine) costs less and is what most homes have. Stain-grade hardwood shows the wood grain and suits Craftsman and older homes with natural woodwork, but costs more in material and labor.

Is crown molding worth it in a room with 8-foot ceilings?

Yes, as long as the size is in proportion. A smaller profile, often around 3½" to 4½", usually looks right on 8-foot ceilings. Oversized crown can make a low room feel shorter.
