Upgrading builder-grade trim in West Windsor
Most of West Windsor was built out in subdivisions from the 1980s on, and a lot of those houses still have the trim they came with: thin casing, short baseboard, and big, plain walls in the foyer and family room. They're well-built homes that just need some finish work to stop feeling like a model home.
That's the kind of job I like. Taller baseboard and wider casing change a room more than people expect. Wainscoting or a paneled wall gives a two-story foyer or dining room some weight. Built-ins on either side of a family room fireplace, or a mudroom bench and locker wall off the garage, make the space actually work for the way you live.
New Jersey's humid summers and dry, heated winters move wood more than you'd think. I let material acclimate in the house before I install it and use joinery that holds up to the seasonal swing, so the joints stay tight.
What I do in West Windsor:
-
Baseboard, casing, and crown molding upgrades
-
Wainscoting, board-and-batten, and accent walls
-
Fireplace built-ins and entertainment walls
-
Mudroom benches, lockers, and closet systems
-
Stair parts and railings
-
Interior door and window installation

Questions from West Windsor homeowners
Can you replace my baseboard without redoing the floors?
Yes. I pull the old base carefully and size the new base to cover the line it leaves. Where floors are uneven, I scribe the base or add shoe molding so there are no gaps.
Can you add trim or wainscoting in a two-story foyer?
Yes. Tall foyers take staging and more layout time, but they're one of the best places in the house for crown, paneling, or a wainscot that carries up the stairs.
Why do trim joints open up in New Jersey homes?
Wood takes on moisture in humid summers and gives it up when the heat runs all winter. I let materials acclimate before installing them and choose joinery that tolerates that movement, so gaps don't open after the first season.
How soon can you start?
I start New Jersey jobs on December 10, 2026. You can request an estimate now, and I'll get on your calendar for a site visit as soon as I'm in town.
